This morning we headed over to Lee on the Solent to visit The Old Ship Inn. It is a pub right on the sea front with views over the Solent to the Isle of Wight. When we first got there just after nine it was raining and very overcast so it was difficult to see anything.
However, shortly after this the sun came out and we had much better views.
The cargo ship Hoegh Osaka is still on it's side with it's load of 1400 cars submerged on the lower decks. Anyway, while we were studying the menu it gave us something to look at. The menu gave us English and American style brekkies with plenty of choices.
We both chose to go Stateside. Jan had warm American style pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, which she loaded up with sausages, mushrooms and toast. I went with the Hash Heaven, which was a big pile of lovely crispy cubed potatoes and onions served on a skillet. I loaded up with a sausage, egg and bacon. This came with a round of toast as well. Also for 99p you get unlimited tea or coffee. This came to £10.76 for the two of us. Excellent value for money and beautifully cooked freshly for us so very hot. Quick friendly service, absolutely no complaints.
After a very big brekkie we thought we should walk some of it off. We decided to go down to Titchfield. We took the footpath through the farm to the canal. We were surprised at how icy the path was considering it was after midday and the sun was up. This is all black ice and we needed to be very careful not to slip up. When we got down to the canal the path was very flooded and it was difficult in places to see where the path ended and the river started.
Very enjoyable walk though, think Jessie struggled a bit in places when the puddles were nearly up to her chin.
Polly stayed home today as it is hydrotherapy day for her.
And Mitzi, well she knows where she is well off and she is not moving.
Well that is it for another week, we will get our thinking caps on and come up with somewhere else to try next time.
