Banana Wharf and Ikea

Happy New Year to everyone.  This week is a double as we went out last Saturday and we also did an extra one on New Year's Day.  Our first outing was to Banana Wharf at Hamble.

It is in a lovely setting with views out over the water.  It was a beautiful sunny morning with blue skies as you can see, but a bit too cold to sit out.  Maybe we will go back in the summer when it is warmer.

Inside was very nice too and of course it was decorated with a Christmas tree.

We had a lovely breakfast which was Banana crepe filled with sliced bananas and maple syrup and we chose to have it served with crispy bacon on the side. Very nice,  not the cheapest but worth it for a treat.  The crepe cost £6.50 and the crispy bacon costs £2.95. Coffee was £2.50 with free top ups. As I say it was quite expensive coming to £23.90 for the two of us.  But, it was Christmas and it was very enjoyable.

To make up for being a bit extravagant on Saturday, yesterday we went to Ikea for brekkie.  This is our second visit but I think last time we must have had a smaller meal because this time I was so stuffed that I couldn't eat much else all day. We had nine items for £2.50 plus by using the family card, the coffee was free.  So for two large breakfasts and two mugs of coffee the bill came to £5. Not bad eh?

As you can see it was huge and included all the lovely naughty things which you know you shouldn't eat really but which are so delicious. Best bits were the fried bread and the hash browns. Didn't even get to the sausages so took them both home to the dogs, bacon was lovely and the little omelet was a change. Very good value.  They do a smaller meal, six items but we didn't notice this until after we had ordered.  Well worth a visit and we enjoyed going round Ikea after.  Didn't buy a lot, we were very good. Not such a nice blue sky this time.

Walks have been a bit difficult of late as everywhere is so wet but Jan took these pictures of her two.  Didn't take mine, they don't like wading through water with such short legs.

Hope to get back to our normal walks soon but here are a few pictures taken over Christmas.

Jan very kindly looked after my dogs one evening, good job I picked them up before she wanted to go to bed.  Not much room for Jan.

That is about all for now, we shall find lots of brekkie venues in 2014 and we hope you will enjoy reading about them.  Hope you try some of them out and we are always pleased to hear your comments.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
