Deans Diner

Went back up to Whiteley this weekend and a repeat visit to Deans Diner as pancakes wanted!.

Breakfast at Whiteley

Service and food has definitely improved since we were last here. Very attentive waiters and quick service.
Not the cheapest - but not extortionate

We both went for the griddled eggs on pancakes, with maple syrup and bacon.

I had the one with sausages - purely so all three dogs get their expected sausage after our Saturday outings!

Lovely fluffy pancakes, and burnt crunchy bacon. And limitless coffee (and decent filter stuff too!)

Only managed one short walk together this week, so managed to do a long one together after breakfast. Lovely winter sunny day, so parked up at Thatchers copse in Titchfield and walked down through the fields to the beach.

Great long walk, lots of other dogs around for ours to play with, but walked back across the top of the cliff,

which was exceptionally muddy, so slower walk to avoid falling over.

Pied Piper

Just a tad muddy

Hoegh Osaka ship has now been uprighted and towed to port - sort of miss seeing it in a way!

Bit too long a walk for Polly, so she rested up, then helped her mum in the garden (and taking selfies!)

My darling old lady :)

Special week this week for puppy like Jessie's 12th Birthday. Happy Birthday Jess!

Birthday Girl!!

Tinged with sadness as it would have been Jake's birthday too. (Happy Birthday Dude!)

The Old Ship Inn, Lee on the Solent

This morning we headed over to Lee on the Solent to visit The Old Ship Inn. It is a pub right on the sea front with views over the Solent to the Isle of Wight. When we first got there just after nine it was raining and very overcast so it was difficult to see anything.

However, shortly after this the sun came out and we had much better views.

The cargo ship Hoegh Osaka is still on it's side with it's load of 1400 cars submerged on the lower decks. Anyway, while we were studying the menu it gave us something to look at. The menu gave us English and American style brekkies with plenty of choices.

We both chose to go Stateside. Jan had warm American style pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, which she loaded up with sausages, mushrooms and toast. I went with the Hash Heaven, which was a big pile of lovely crispy cubed potatoes and onions served on a skillet. I loaded up with a sausage, egg and bacon. This came with a round of toast as well. Also for 99p you get unlimited tea or coffee. This came to £10.76 for the two of us. Excellent value for money and beautifully cooked freshly for us so very hot. Quick friendly service, absolutely no complaints.

Breakfast at the Old Ship, Lee on Solent

After a very big brekkie we thought we should walk some of it off. We decided to go down to Titchfield. We took the footpath through the farm to the canal. We were surprised at how icy the path was considering it was after midday and the sun was up. This is all black ice and we needed to be very careful not to slip up. When we got down to the canal the path was very flooded and it was difficult in places to see where the path ended and the river started.
Very enjoyable walk though, think Jessie struggled a bit in places when the puddles were nearly up to her chin.

Polly stayed home today as it is hydrotherapy day for her.

And Mitzi, well she knows where she is well off and she is not moving.

Well that is it for another week, we will get our thinking caps on and come up with somewhere else to try next time.

Harvester, Whiteley

We went last weekend to the Harvester in Whiteley, with our friend Chris.

Harvester Breakfast
The cooked main course,,

Great value for money breakfast. £4.99 unlimited breakfast, which is all cooked, and cold/continental(fruit/cereal/pancakes/croissants), as much as you can eat!

Jans fruit starter

Margarets healthy starter

Jan's pudding of pancakes!

So thoroughly worth it. We got our money's worth!

Sad week generally with the terrorist activity in Paris. Why people cannot live in harmony :(.

Locally the big news was the grounding of a container ship in the Solent. Interesting change to the sea view whilst out walking the dogs.

Margaret's picture from the shore

Personally I think Polly jumped on board looking for food. Hence the list of the ship as she is a tad rotund!
(the media picture of the ship) Oops!

Pol has managed a few wobbly walks. Though somedays 15 yards is enough, but occasionally manages half a mile.
Still happy to be out

Only a few walks out together over the last week.

Hike around Barfoots farm to the beach

Windswept Jessie

Pretty muddy underfoot, but we seem to get out between the heavy rain-showers.

Big drinking puddle

All avoiding the muddiest bit!

Best buddies

Good to catch up.

Until next time :)
